Filter details

● The filter uses activated carbon (coconut-based) adsorption and ion exchange resin technology.

● It is designed to reduce chlorine, heavy metals, and stabilise calcium carbonate / mineral content, which helps prevent scale build-up in the machine.

● Soak the filter in water for 5 minutes, fit into the holder,

● Change the filter every 2 months (or after ~120 litres) depending on water hardness and usage (or if water hardness is high, replace more often).

● The resin filter protects against scaling.

Installation instructions:

1. Soak the cartridge in clean water for ~5 minutes (to purge air)

2. Rinse under cold water if instructed.

3. Insert into filter holder in water reservoir.

4. Reset any machine-filter counter if applicable.

Why this is important

● Using this filter helps in a few ways:

● It helps maintain the internal components by reducing mineral scale build-up (which otherwise can lead to maintenance issues or affect the machine’s performance).

● It helps improve coffee flavour by reducing unwanted chlorine or heavy metal tastes from tap water.

Tips

● Make sure you buy the correct filter model (BWF100).

● Even if your local tap water is filtered, you still need some mineral content (the manual warns against using extremely low-mineral water like RO or distilled, as taste and performance may suffer).

● If you live in an area with very hard water (high minerals), even with the filter you may need to descale more often or consider additional water softening.

Note

● If your machine model number “880” and above, e.g. BES880 (Barista Touch), BES881 (Barista Touch Impress), BES920 (Dual Boiler), BES980 (Oracle), BES985 (Oracle Jet), BES990 (Oracle Touch), then this resin filter is not compatible. Some of the older batch of Oracle®, Oracle® Touch, and Dual Boiler™ does use this filter too. If you are unsure of your batches, please write in to our customer service for enquiry.
